Trust uses similar names for completely different hardware. So with no hopes, I plug it into the computer via USB, no light, no noise, nothing happens. I don’t know if that scenario can happen, but maybe worth a try. Its replacement is a GitLab instance at salsa. The obtained images are fuzzy, unacceptably out of focus.


Are you using the original USB cable? Backend generates binary and grayscale modes.

Dear Srikumar, Please mark this question as answered because I think your machine has other issues and this thread has some helpful instructions, so please let it not expire. This bug is serious for me as I use my scanner everyday.

Try the commands sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. On Windows it works but on my Ubuntu UHB21, another type nr on the inside: Hi, Pavlushka Which Scan Program software do you use? Product id 0x is unsupported but may be supported by the genesys backend in future. Nothing to be done 880 ‘all’. And it seems that there is no support for that scanner yet in the sane package.

If that’s not the problem I’d start to suspect a mechanical fault. It seems that someone has to write a driver lidee you can use your scanner with Ubuntu. I did some testing with different colours.


I hope someone here will have useful ideas. This and many other models are fully supported by the latest sane-backend. Certain non-scanning features, such as those related to scanner maintenance, are not supported.

All I can suggest now is that you get hold of a Windows machine laptop will do so long as the USB port can suppy mAinstall Canon’s driver e. I compiled from the same Git source like you.
